Today was my first group run with Team in Training! I have never ran with anyone, let alone a group. I was a bit hesitant It turned out to be really great! I left feeling really happy. The running coach gave us a training schedule for the marathon, it was a bit different than my old training schedules. The schedule goes more by run 30 min one day, run 40 min one day... My past training has been run x number of miles per day? How about you? Anyone have a preference? I sent out my fundraising letters this week (100 of them). I am almost to a hundred dollars :) Thanks to those bloggy buddies who have supported me. I appreciate it. I have asked everyone to consider a $1/mile donation. I have confidence that I will reach my goal and raise the money for such a great cause.

Group Run
As a side note... the local water park has a river that takes the tubes around, during the summer they open that up to water walk/run in. You can go against the current to add resistance. I have went 4 times this week to cross train and LOVE it! Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend :)

Your run against the current sounds like fun.
And I have only run with miles not minutes.
Just out of curiosity, where is there a water park in West Lafayette? I'm a Hoosier native and went to Purdue but I don't recall anything like that. However, I've been gone quite a while :)
Janet, it is the carribean cove water park at columbian park. Really nice :)

Running in the water sounds like fun! When I was first building my base I ran by time and then once I got good at that I ran by miles. I think time is a good way of doing it for those just starting out. :)
I actually prefer to schedule runs based on time...and use the distanced covered as my training progresses to track fintess....good luck with Team in Training...Also..are you running barefoot with them, as well?
running in the water sounds great!
Way to go fellow TNTer! I was also a little weirded out by the running for 30 minutes instead of x miles thing. I think it's a mental thing - to get you to focus on running for an amount of time and not so much on a distance. Since we are doing the LONG runs on the saturday group runs. Keep up the good work on your fundraising and running! We have to motivate each other until October!! :)
I love group running than running solo, because it is more fun!!!
